Who we are

Neibour is a marketplace where adults find verified people for platonic company (coffee, movies, gym, travel, a talk) and for services at home (salon, makeup, household help, cooking). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. It is written for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and name. We log you in with a one-time email link, so we never ask for or store a password.
  • Location: only if you allow it, or the area you type in. We use it to show people near you. Partners' listings store the area they choose, not their home address.
  • Messages: what you send and receive in Neibour chat, so the conversation works and so we can act on reports.
  • Partner details: what you put in a listing (photo, age, gender, languages, bio, prices). This is shown publicly once approved.
  • Verification: if you become a partner, a selfie and a government ID photo. These are stored privately and seen only by our review team.
  • Payments: the amount and the UPI reference number (UTR) you give us. We never see or store your UPI PIN, bank or card details.
  • Technical: a login cookie, and basic request logs (time, page, IP address) kept for security.

Why we use it

  • To run your account, show nearby profiles, deliver messages and activate membership.
  • To check listings, verify partners and keep the platform safe: blocking phone numbers in chat, investigating reports, banning abuse.
  • To email you about your account: login links, payment and listing decisions. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as responding to a lawful request from authorities.

Who sees it

  • Other users see a partner's approved listing and the messages in their own chats. They never see your email.
  • Our team (admins) can see accounts, listings, chats, reports and payments to review, support and moderate.
  • Service providers that run Neibour for us: Cloudflare (hosting, database, photo storage), our email delivery service, and OpenStreetMap's Photon service (place search; it receives only the text you type). They process data on our instructions.
  • We do not sell your personal data or share it with advertisers.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage for preferences like your chosen area. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will ask first.

How long we keep it

  • Account and chats: while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, except what we must keep by law.
  • Verification selfie and ID: deleted after review is finished, keeping only the result (verified or not).
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Security logs: up to 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask us to: see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent (which may mean closing your account). You can also nominate someone to act for you if you die or become unable to. Write to privacy@saathi.example from your account email; we reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied, contact our Grievance Officer, Neibour at the same address, and after that you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Neibour is only for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Login links work once and expire in 15 minutes, and we store only a hash of them. Verification documents are never public. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will show it on the site and ask you to accept it again.
